    Department Overview

    Learning and Development is responsible for training and assisting new and current associates in preparing for their job responsibilities. This area conducts various training classes on topics such as professional development skills, claims processing skills and customer service skills. Also, they develop and maintain online documentation systems and online customized courses for the organization. These courses and many other learning events are delivered through the corporate Learning Management System, called Connect.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The incumbent analyzes, designs, programs, implements, and modifies computer-based training to provide immediate solutions to corporate information and data processing needs and to ensure timely and accurate processing and reporting of data for the organization.

    The incumbent is responsible for creating and helping coordinate communications, which ensure effective and timely implementation of established project objectives and objectives.  These efforts must support the specific objectives of the requester, while addressing the needs, perceptions, interests, and concerns of the audience.

    The incumbent is required to analyze customer needs, design new training programs or modify existing systems and programs.  Incumbent is required to develop, program and test the various systems and programs.

    Summary of Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in human resources, education technology, instructional design, instructional technology or a related-field.
    • Experience in instructional design in an education environment or equivalent.
    • Experience in graphic design.
    • Knowledge of performing needs analyses and modifying existing documentation systems.
    • Experience in a position interpreting and communicating technical information orally and written.
    • Knowledge of internet programming languages and mainframe systems design.
    • Effective use of courseware authoring tools and other instructional technologies.
    • Experience with Word and Excel.
    • Experience managing multiple projects with various priorities.
    • Knowledge of the healthcare industry.
    • Experience in education or adult-learning theory preferred.
    • Experience in a position requiring with technical writing, editing and proofreading preferred.
    • Knowledge of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama products and services preferred.
    • Knowledge of HTML/ HTML5 preferred
    • Experience with authoring tools including Captivate, Adobe Presenter, and Articulate preferred
